Launch videos

A launch video for the day you ship

A product launch video tells people what is new, why it matters and where to get it, in 30 to 90 seconds. customcommercials.ai, an AI commercial studio, plans yours in a free storyboard, a shot-by-shot plan you see before you pay, and makes it in every shape your launch needs.

How it's built

How a launch video is built, beat by beat

The shape most launch videos follow. The storyboard plans each beat as shots you can change.

The old way

Open on how people do it today: the spreadsheet, the waiting room, the drawer of cables. Five seconds the viewer recognizes.

The statement

One line that says it changes now. This is the hook, the moment that makes people stay, said and shown big.

The reveal

Your product, close and slow. Your own photo or screen recording is the shot, so it looks exactly like itself.

Up to three features

Each gets a name card and two or three shots. Three is the most a viewer remembers; the storyboard keeps it to that.

Who it is for

The people it was built for, in one shot or a spokesperson's line, a realistic AI presenter who says your lines on camera.

When, where, and the end card

The date and where to get it, then the end card: the last screen with your web address and the call to action, what you ask people to do next.

The times are the storyboard's. The finished file also opens on a short title card with your title and logo, and closes on a card where the voice says your call to action, what you ask people to do next. Those cards are not billed.

A launch video is billed for at least 1 minute, so a shorter cut costs the same as that length.

  • The product or brand shows up in the first 5 seconds.
  • The product appears at least twice: once early and once big, just before the end card.
  • One camera move per shot.
  • The last 2 to 4 seconds are the end card, the last screen with your name and what to do next.
  • People speak about 2.5 words a second, so a 30-second ad holds about 70 words with room to breathe.
Where it runs

One launch, every place people will see it

One approval gives you three files: wide for the top of your website, YouTube and your Product Hunt page, vertical for launch posts on TikTok, Reels and Shorts, and square for LinkedIn and feeds. No watermark.

Launches it fits

  • A new startup or product
  • Product Hunt day
  • A new version or a big feature
  • A crowdfunding page or an investor update
Software and apps

Your real screens, not invented ones

Generated footage cannot draw your real product screens. For software or an app, upload a short screen recording as your product media; it is shown whole on a blurred backdrop in the reveal and the feature shots, and everything around it is generated from your description. The SaaS and apps pages show the shape of a brief.

After launch, new users need to learn the product. A video that teaches people how to use it is a how-to video, and that is what our sister product howtovideos.ai makes.

How to plan one

How to plan a launch video, in four steps

  1. Write the launch brief

What is new, who it is for, the old way it replaces, up to three features, the launch date and where to get it. Add a screen recording for software or a product photo for a physical product (uploading your own media needs a paid plan).

  2. Pick the length and a voice

Most launch videos run 30 to 90 seconds; ask for any length up to 1 minute 30 seconds. Choose a voice, and a spokesperson if you want someone on camera.

  3. Edit the free storyboard

The storyboard is a shot-by-shot plan with a preview still, one picture of the shot, for most shots. Tighten the statement, order the features, and check the price before you approve.

  4. Approve and ship it everywhere

Pay once. We make every shot and deliver wide 16:9 for your website and YouTube, vertical 9:16 for your launch posts, and square 1:1 for feeds.

Questions

What is a product launch video?

A 30 to 90 second video that announces something new: the old way of doing it, a one-line statement, the reveal, up to three features, who it is for, and when and where to get it, ending on your web address.

How long should a launch video be?

Most run 30 to 90 seconds. Shorter is better for social posts; the full length suits your website and a Product Hunt page. Ask for any length from 6 seconds to 1 minute 30 seconds.

Can it show my real app or software?

Yes, from your own screen recording. Upload a short recording as the product media and it appears whole in the reveal and the feature shots. Generated footage cannot draw your real screens, so the recording is the way to show them.

What should a launch video include?

One problem people recognize, one line that says what changes, the product big on screen, no more than three features, who it is for, the date, where to get it, and a clear call to action, which is what you ask people to do next.

How much does a launch video cost?

A launch video is priced by its format and finished length, from 6 seconds to 1 minute 30 seconds. The storyboard is free and shows the exact price before anyone pays. Commercials are not taking new orders yet; email support@customcommercials.ai to hear when they open.
