Product videos

Product videos that show the thing big and close

A product video shows the thing itself, big and close. A product spot runs 15 to 30 seconds with no presenter; a launch video tells the story of what is new. Think of it as a product video maker that does the work for you. customcommercials.ai, an AI commercial studio, plans every shot in a free storyboard, a shot-by-shot plan, and your own product photo becomes the product shot.

Product spot

0:15 to 0:30

Your product is the star. No presenter needed.

  1. Tease 0–3 s
  2. Reveal 3–6 s
  3. Details 6–14 s
  4. In action 14–20 s
  5. In a real setting 20–25 s
  6. Hero shot and end card 25–30 s
30 seconds in all.

Best for Physical products, food and drink, anything that photographs well.

Two kinds

Product spot or launch video?

Both put the product first. One is a close look; the other is a story about what changed.

A product spot

Fifteen to thirty seconds. The product itself is the star: a tease, the reveal, three details, the product in use, a real setting, then a hero shot and the end card (the last screen with your web address). No presenter needed; a voice and music carry it. Made for physical products, food and drink, and anything that photographs well.

A launch video

Thirty to ninety seconds. The old way, a statement, the reveal, up to three features, who it is for, and where to get it. Made for a website, Product Hunt day, a new version or a new product. For software, your real screens appear as your own clips. The launch videos page covers it beat by beat.

How it's built

How a product spot is built, beat by beat

Tease

A close-up of a texture or an edge before you can tell what it is, with a slow push-in (the camera moving closer).

Reveal

The product on a plain backdrop, close and slow: your own photo is the shot, with a gentle push-in, so the product looks like itself.

Details

Three close shots of what makes it good: the material, a button, the label. Short lines on screen point at each.

In action

A pour, a click, an unboxing, a hand picking it up. B-roll, the footage that plays while the voice talks, does this part.

In a real setting

The product where it lives: a kitchen counter, a desk, a gym bag. One shot that says who it is for.

Hero shot and end card

A slow turn of the product, then the end card: the last screen with your web address and the call to action, what you ask people to do next.

The times are the storyboard's. The finished file also opens on a short title card with your title and logo, and closes on a card where the voice says your call to action, what you ask people to do next. Those cards are not billed.

A launch video is billed for at least 1 minute, so a shorter cut costs the same as that length.

  • The product or brand shows up in the first 5 seconds.
  • The product appears at least twice: once early and once big, just before the end card.
  • One camera move per shot.
  • The last 2 to 4 seconds are the end card, the last screen with your name and what to do next.
  • People speak about 2.5 words a second, so a 30-second ad holds about 70 words with room to breathe.
Your product

Use your real product photo

Generated footage follows your description and can look like your product, but no model copies a product exactly. Your real photo or clip shows the real thing, so it opens the reveal and the hero shot.

Add it to your media library and pick it in the brief (uploading your own media needs a paid plan): one photo or clip per commercial, used for the product shots. A photo or screenshot is cropped to fill a wide frame (and again for vertical and square), so use a landscape image with the product in the middle, or a screen recording, which is shown whole on a blurred backdrop. Everything else is generated from your description.

What to pick

  • Your clearest photo, front on, on a plain background
  • Or a short clip of the product in use
  • For software: a short screen recording, or one clear screen
  • One item per commercial; the brief takes one
Launch day

Launch videos for a website or Product Hunt

A launch video opens on the old way of doing things, cuts to a statement, reveals the product, then gives each of up to three features a name card and two or three shots. It ends with who it is for, the date and where to get it, and the end card. A launch video is sold from 1 minute to 1 minute 30 seconds; ask for the length in the brief. For software, upload a short screen recording as your product media; generated footage cannot draw your real screens, and your own clip can.

After launch day, new users need to learn the product. A video that teaches people how to use it is a how-to video, and that is what our sister product howtovideos.ai makes.

Questions

What is a product video?

A short ad where the product itself is the star: a close tease, the reveal, three details, the product in use, and a hero shot before the end card. No presenter needed. A launch video is longer and tells the story of what is new.

How long should a product video be?

A product spot runs 15 to 30 seconds. A launch video runs 30 to 90 seconds, sold here from 1 minute to 1 minute 30 seconds. Ask for the length in the brief and the storyboard plans it; for a 15, trim the shots in the storyboard before you approve. A product spot is billed for at least 15 seconds.

Can you use my product photo?

Yes, and you should. Add your clearest photo, front on and on a plain background, or a short clip to your media library and pick it in the brief (uploading your own media needs a paid plan). It becomes the product shot; everything else is generated from your description.

Do I need a presenter?

No. A product spot works with a voice and music. Add up to 2 AI spokespeople if you want someone on camera.

How much does a product video cost?

A product video is priced by its format and finished length, from 6 seconds to 1 minute 30 seconds. The storyboard is free and shows the exact price before anyone pays. Commercials are not taking new orders yet; email support@customcommercials.ai to hear when they open.
